2022 Season Overview

The 3rd Grade League is for children in 3rd Grade during the 2021-22 academic school year.

2022 registration fee is $215. Each player will also purchase a $20 raffle ticket as part of registration.

Teams at this age group are formed based on an evaluation process to create balanced teams selected by coaches based on their results.

Each player will be assigned a time slot and be evaluated on the following:

  • Hitting (batting cage)
  • Throwing / Pitching / Catching
  • Fielding (infield and outfield)

Evaluations will be conducted by 3rd Grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season.  After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings during evaluations.  Best efforts will be made for all teams within the 3rd Grade league to be balanced.

No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.

Schedule

Each team will typically practice two weeknights (M/W or T/Th) with games on Sundays.  Practice times are 5:30-7 or 7-8:30.  Games can also be played on assigned practice nights.  There will be no games scheduled during the Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends.

The 3rd Grade League intends to practice and play games at Plymouth Creek Playfields or LaCompte Fields.

While each coach has discretion, practices will be scheduled for 60-90 minutes.  Games will have a 2 hour time limit.

PLEASE NOTE:  If your child is interested in playing weekend tournaments and a 12-16 game league schedule against other communities, they should try out for the Travel League.  More information can be found on our Travel Page.

2022 Calendar

  • Registration opens in January 2022 and closes February 27, 2022
  • Teams will be formed late March / early April.  Coaches will contact players with practice days and times.
  • Practices start in late April, weather permitting
  • Games tentatively scheduled to start the first weekend in May.
  • The End-of-Season Tournament will be the second or third full week of July.  The tournament will be a double elimination tournament based on regular season standings.

League Guidelines

  • Players rotate positions during the course of the season
  • Scores are kept and win/loss record used for end of season tournament
  • A pitch count rule will be enforced for all pitchers
  • Games will be six innings or as many innings that can be played in allotted time
  • Bats must meet PWYBA bat requirements, which are described here: https://www.pwyba.com/page/show/550245-pwyba-news-and-events

Equipment

Players are required to have their own baseball glove, baseball pants and shoes (cleats).  They will be provided a team jersey and hat.  We suggest gray baseball pants.  Many players like to have their own bat (see bat requirements above) and helmet;  however, team coaches are issued bats and helmets that kids can share so they are not required.
