Open Position

4th/5th Grade Commissioner

4/5G House Evaluations

We ask that all 4th/5th Grade House League players go through House League Evaluations. These evaluations aim to have all players evaluated by the same evaluators on the same baseball skills. Following the evaluations, teams will be formed with the intent to have balanced abilities across all teams. All players will be placed on a team. Because our goal is to have balanced teams, we cannot commit to accommodating play with requests.

4th/5th Grade Evaluations are scheduled for Sunday, March 24th at the Central Middle School Dome.

Each player will be assigned to a time slot alphabetically, based on each player's last name as follows:

Last Names beginning:  A – K

Evaluation Time:  11:30A - 12:45P

 Last Names beginning: L – Z

Evaluation Time:  1:15P – 2:30P

Please have your child arrive at the start time to allow them time to get checked in so we can stay on schedule.

Players should check in at the dome and will receive a colored pinny to be worn throughout the evaluation. Please ensure your player wears athletic clothes (baseball pants are preferred) and tennis shoes. They will need to bring their own glove and they can use their own bat and helmet if they have one. Bats and helmets are available for use for players who do not have their own.

We ask that parents not stay and observe;  instead, please plan to be back at Central Middle School Dome to pick up your player approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled end time in the event we are ahead of schedule.

We will organize our players into teams the week following evaluations.  Our Coaches will reach out to notify you what team they are playing on as well as details regarding practices and important dates.

2024 Season Overview

The 4th/5th Grade League is for children in 4th and 5th Grade during the 2023/2024 academic school year. NO "PLAYING UP" IS ALLOWED.

2024 registration fee is $260.

Teams at this age group are formed based on an evaluation process to create balanced teams selected by coaches based on their results.

Player evaluations are scheduled for March 24, 2024.

Each player will be evaluated on the following:

  • Hitting (batting cage)
  • Throwing/Pitching/Catching
  • Fielding (infield and outfield)

Evaluations will be conducted by 4th and 5th grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season. After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings during evaluations. Best efforts will be made for all teams within the 4th/5th grade league to be balanced.

No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.

COACHES

WE NEED COACHES!! Please volunteer to be a head coach or an assistant coach via your registration form, onsite registration or go to www.pwyba.com. Contact league commissioner with questions.

SCHEDULE

Each team will typically have one or two practices per week. Once games start, it will typically be one practice and one game each week. Games and practices will typically be mid-week (Monday-Thursday).

There may be a couple of Saturday games to accommodate inter-league games against other associations, such as Minnetonka. Additionally, the end of season tournament may carry into the weekend for teams that are still playing.

The league may also schedule weekend games or practices to make up for weather cancellations, but these would be at the discretion of the coach.

There will be no games scheduled during the Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends.

The 4th/5th Grade League intends to practice and play games at Wayzata East Middle School, Plymouth Creek Playfields, and Elm Creek Playfields. Games and/or practices may be at other locations as needed. Final practice and game locations are dependent on number of teams.

While each coach has discretion, practices will be scheduled for 90 minutes.  Games will have a 2 hour time limit.

PLEASE NOTE: If your child is interested in playing weekend tournaments and a 16 game league schedule against other communities, they should try out for the Travel League. More information can be found on our Travel Page.
