2023 Player Evaluations

All 6th/7th Grade Rec League players participate in player evaluations. The goal of the evaluations is to have all kids evaluated on the same baseball skills, by the same evaluators. Following the evaluations, teams will be formed with the intent to have balanced abilities across all teams. All players will be placed on a team. Because our goal is to have balanced teams, we cannot commit to accommodating play with requests.

6th/7th Grade Rec League Evaluations are scheduled for Sunday, March 26th from 3:30PM to 5PM at the Wayzata Central Middle School Dome.

Please have your child arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time to allow them time to get checked in so we can stay on schedule.

Players should check in at the dome and will receive a colored jersey to be worn throughout the evaluation. Please make sure your player is wearing athletic clothes (baseball pants are preferred) and tennis shoes (no cleats). They will need to bring their own glove and they can use their own bat and helmet if they have one. Bats and helmets are available for use for players who do not have their own.

Parents are not allowed to stay and observe.

Please plan to be back at Central Middle School Dome to pick up your player approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled end time in case they finish early.

We will plan to organize teams the week following evals and coaches will reach out to parents to notify them what team they are playing on as well as details regarding practices and important dates.

Also, we are also still in need of head coaches.  If you are interested in being a head coach (or being co-head coaches with someone), please contact Liz Knoot.

2023 Season Overview

The 6th/7th Grade League is for children in 6th and 7th Grade during the 2022/2023 academic school year.

2023 registration fee is $225. Each player will also purchase a $20 raffle ticket as part of registration.

Teams at this age group are formed based on an evaluation process to create balanced teams selected by coaches based on their results.

Player evaluations are tentatively scheduled for March 26, 2023.

Each player will be evaluated on the following:

  • Hitting (batting cage)
  • Throwing/Pitching/Catching
  • Fielding (infield and outfield)

Evaluations will be conducted by 6th/7th grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season. After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings during evaluations. Best efforts will be made for all teams within the 6th/7th grade league to be balanced.

No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.
