Registration Now Closed

Registration for the 2023 3rd Grade House League is closed. If your ball player is interested in playing this season, please register for the waitlist and we will contact you if we have availability.

2023 3G House Evaluations

All 3rd Grade House League players participate in house league evaluations. The goal of the house evaluations is to have all kids evaluated on the same baseball skills, by the same evaluators. Following the evaluations, teams will be formed with the intent to have balanced abilities across all teams. All players will be placed on a team. Because our goal is to have balanced teams, we cannot commit to accommodating play with requests.

3rd Grade House League Evaluations are scheduled for Saturday, March 25th at the Wayzata Central Middle School Dome. Each player will be assigned a time slot alphabetically, based on each player's last name as follows:

Last Names beginning with:  A – K

Evaluation Time:  4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

 Last Names beginning with: L – Z

Evaluation Time:  6:00 pm – 7:30pm

Please have your child arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time to allow them time to get checked in so we can stay on schedule.

Players should check in at the dome and will receive a colored jersey to be worn throughout the evaluation. Please make sure your player is wearing athletic clothes (baseball pants are preferred) and tennis shoes (no cleats). They will need to bring their own glove and they can use their own bat and helmet if they have one. Bats and helmets are available for use for players who do not have their own.

Parents are not allowed to stay and observe.

Please plan to be back at Central Middle School Dome to pick up your player approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled end time in case they finish early.

We will plan to organize teams the week following evals and coaches will reach out to parents to notify them what team they are playing on as well as details regarding practices and important dates.

Also, we are also still in need of head coaches.  If you are interested in being a head coach (or being co-head coaches with someone), please contact the league commissioner.

2023 Season Overview

The 3rd Grade League is for children in 3rd Grade during the 2022/2023 academic school year.

2023 registration fee is $225. Each player will also purchase a $20 electronic raffle ticket as part of registration.

Teams at this age group are formed based on an evaluation process to create balanced teams selected by coaches based on their results.

Player evaluations are tentatively scheduled for March 25, 2023.

Each player will be assigned a time slot and be evaluated on the following:

  • Hitting (batting cage)
  • Throwing / Pitching / Catching
  • Fielding (infield and outfield)

Evaluations will be conducted by 3rd Grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season.  After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings during evaluations.  Best efforts will be made for all teams within the 3rd Grade league to be balanced.

No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.

Schedule

Each team will typically practice two weeknights (M/W or T/Th) with games on Sundays.  Practice times are 5:30-7 or 7-8:30.  Games can also be played on assigned practice nights.  There will be no games scheduled during the Memorial Day and 4th of July weekends. Practice times may shift earlier during the early season to accommodate daylight.

The 3rd Grade League intends to practice and play games at Plymouth Creek Playfields or LaCompte Fields.

While each coach has discretion, practices will be scheduled for 60-90 minutes.  Games will have a 2 hour time limit.

PLEASE NOTE:  If your child is interested in playing weekend tournaments and a 12-16 game league schedule against other communities, they should try out for the Travel League.  More information can be found on our Travel Page.

Equipment

Players are required to have their own baseball glove, baseball pants and shoes (cleats).  They will be provided a team jersey and hat.  We suggest gray baseball pants.  Many players like to have their own bat (see bat requirements above) and helmet;  however, team coaches are issued bats and helmets that kids can share so they are not required.
