League Description:

The 6th/7th Grade League is for children in 6th or 7th grade during the 2018/2019 academic school year. Teams will be formed by an evaluation process and coaches will draft players to create balance teams.

Each team will play with 9 players in the field.

Practice and Games will not be on a set schedule. Most games will be held during the weekday after school is out. A typical week could include 1 game and 1 practice. Times and places will vary each week. Additional practices could be assigned for the weekends at the coach's discretion.

The 6th/7th grade league will practice and play games at Gleason Lake, Zachary 5, Oakwood 6 and West Middle School.

While each coach has discretion, most practices will be 60-90 minutes and games will be 1.5 hours.

If your child is interested in playing weekend tournaments and a 16 game league schedule against other communities, they should try out for the Travel League.  More information can be found on our Travel Page at:

League Guidelines:

  • Players rotate positions during the course of the season.
  • Scores are kept and win/loss record used to determine seeding for end of season tournament.
  • A pitch count rule will be enforced for all pitchers.
  • Games will be six innings or as many innings possible in allotted time.
  • Teams will be formed based on evaluations, not by school or "play with" requests.
  • Bats must meet either of the following guidelines.
    • NHSF USSSA bat standards.  Bats must have the USSA 1.15bpf marking. Bats must be 2 1/4" with unlimited weight differential or bats must be between 2 1/2" and 2 3/4"and have a–10 differential or less (i.e. 30” – 20.0 oz.)
    • USA Baseball Bats – Bats must be 2 ¼” with an unlimited weight differential or 2 5/8th and have a -11 differential or less

Teams will be formed based on player evaluations in order to create a competitive balance among the teams in the league. Evaluations TBD in the Central Middle School Dome.

Evaluations will include the following:

  • Hitting (batting cage)
  • Throwing/Pitching/Catching
  • Fielding (infield and outfield)

Evaluations will be conducted by the 6th/7th grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season. After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings provided during evaluations. All teams within the 6th/7th grade league will be balanced.

No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.

Players are required to have their own baseball glove, baseball pants and shoes (cleats).  They will be provided a team jersey and hat.  We suggest Grey baseball pants.  Many players like to have their own bat and helmet, however team coaches are issued bats and helmets that kids can share so they are not required.
