The 6th/7th Grade League is for children in 6th or 7th grade during the 2018/2019 academic school year. Teams will be formed by an evaluation process and coaches will draft players to create balance teams.
Each team will play with 9 players in the field.
Practice and Games will not be on a set schedule. Most games will be held during the weekday after school is out. A typical week could include 1 game and 1 practice. Times and places will vary each week. Additional practices could be assigned for the weekends at the coach's discretion.
The 6th/7th grade league will practice and play games at Gleason Lake, Zachary 5, Oakwood 6 and West Middle School.
While each coach has discretion, most practices will be 60-90 minutes and games will be 1.5 hours.
If your child is interested in playing weekend tournaments and a 16 game league schedule against other communities, they should try out for the Travel League. More information can be found on our Travel Page at: http://www.pwyba.com/page/show/404461-travel
Teams will be formed based on player evaluations in order to create a competitive balance among the teams in the league. Evaluations TBD in the Central Middle School Dome.
Evaluations will include the following:
Evaluations will be conducted by the 6th/7th grade coaches who have registered for the upcoming season. After the evaluation process has been completed, head coaches will be assigned and teams formed based on the player ratings provided during evaluations. All teams within the 6th/7th grade league will be balanced.
No "play with" or "coach" requests will be allowed.
Players are required to have their own baseball glove, baseball pants and shoes (cleats). They will be provided a team jersey and hat. We suggest Grey baseball pants. Many players like to have their own bat and helmet, however team coaches are issued bats and helmets that kids can share so they are not required.
· Registration closes February 25th
· Teams will be formed late March. Coaches will contact players
· Practices start the week of mid-April, weather permitting
· Evaluations are tentatively set for March in the Central Middle School Dome
· Games tentatively scheduled to start the first week in May
· Season ending tournament will be scheduled for the middle of July. This is contingent on all regular season games being complete and weather not causing any issues.
