Sandlot Baseball Camp

Age Group: 3rd-6th grade

Sandlot baseball provide an opportunity for participants to play pick-up baseball in a relaxed and fun environment. There are two sessions during the year for each age group (November/December and January/February). Each session will last 5 weeks. Registration limited to 24 players for maximum play time.

Juniors: 3rd - 4th Grade 

  • November/December Sessions: Nov 10, 17, Dec 1, 8, 15 (5:30-7:00pm)
  • January/February Sessions: Jan 5, 12, 19, 26, Feb 2 (5:30-7:00pm)

Seniors: 5th - 6th Grade

  • November/December Sessions: Nov 10, 17, Dec 1, 8, 15 (7:00-8:30pm
  • January/February Sessions: Jan 5, 12, 19, 26, Feb 2 (7:00-8:30pm)

TROJAN BASEBALL CAMP

Age Group: 6th-8th grade

Anticipated Dates: Beginning November 5

Trojan Camp is for players in grades 6-8 who are interested in developing all aspects of their game. Whether looking to refine existing skills or work on a specific challenge, this clinic will  use a modern and technologically advanced method to help players take their game to the next level. 

Trojan Camp is offered on Sunday afternoons to avoid conflicts with other winter activities. We ask that players sign up for the session time they prefer. The camp starts on November 5 and it runs consecutively until February 4 (there is no camp on Sunday, Dec 24 or Sunday, Dec 31). 

During November and December, camp sessions will run from 5:00-6:30pm or 6:30-8:00pm.
During January and February, camp sessions will run from 4:00-5:30pm or 5:30-7:00pm.

Areas of Focus:

  • Hitting: Quality of Movements, Timing, Approach

  • Pitching: Form, Arm Strength and Conditioning, Control and Grip, Mental Approach

  • Fielding and Base Running: Agility and Strength Development  

Big League Baseball Camp

Age Group: 9th-12th grade

Anticipated Dates: 12/6 - 3/8 (excludes 12/27 and 12/28)

Big League Camps are for High School aged players and will be facilitated by Scott Leius, Tim Laudner (Minnesota Twins) and their coaching staff. These sessions are designed to prepare players to compete at the high school level, and beyond. There will be two sessions offered this year on Tuesdays or Wednesday, or an opportunity for players who wish to participate in both sessions for a reduced rate.  

Scott Leius was one of the original founders of the BLC with Tim Laudner, Dan Gladden, and Gene Larkin.  The BLC has been held at the CMS Dome since 2009. 

As a member of the Minnesota Twins from 1990 to 1995, Scott hit the game-winning HR in Game 2 of the 1991 World Series vs the Braves. 

Scott came in 2nd in the Gold Glove award in 1994 (to Wade Boggs).  

After his retirement as a player, Scott served as head of scouting/ player development for the KC Royals AAA team. 

Scott Leius will be joined by Tim Laudner who is also a former Minnesota Twin and current MLB sports TV commentator. Tim was a catcher for the Twins and a member of the 1987 World Series Championship team. In 1988, he was selected to the American League All-Star Team.

Under the direction of Scott and Tim, Big League Camp will provide athletes with a unique set of drills and skill development exercises that to aid in their personal development.  Athletes will gain first-hand exposure to development strategies that are used at the youth level all the way to the Major Leagues. Over 25 Wayzata players that have attended the BLC have gone on to play college baseball.
