2024 Bat Requirements

Bat requirements vary at different ages across our House and Travel leagues.  Here is a summary of the requirements for each age level in 2024.  The 2024 bat requirements are the same as they were in 2023.

The two primary bat standards are USSSA 1.15 bpf and USA Baseball.  The bat is stamped with the standard's logo just above the handle, as shown below. 

Both USSSA and USA Baseball stamped bats are allowed in all PWYBA House leagues and 9-14U Travel leagues.

For each age level below, the weight differential is the difference between the length (in inches) and weight (in ounces).  For example, a 29", 19 oz bat has a -10 weight differential.

K-2nd Grade House Leagues

  • Maximum barrel diameter: 2 1/4" (No big barrel bats)
  • Maximum length: 33"
  • Maximum weight differential: None

9-11 year olds

Includes 9U-11U Travel and 3rd and 4th/5th Grade House Leagues

  • Maximum barrel diameter: 2 3/4" (USSSA) or 2 5/8" (USA Baseball)
  • Maximum length: 36"
  • Maximum weight differential: None

12-13 year olds

Includes 12U-13U Travel and 6th/7th Grade House Leagues

  • Maximum barrel diameter: 2 3/4" (USSSA) or 2 5/8" (USA Baseball)
  • Maximum length: 36"
  • Maximum weight differential: -10

14 year olds

Includes 14U and 14/15A Travel and 8th/9th Grade House Leagues

  • Maximum bat diameter: 2 3/4" (USSSA) or 2 5/8" (USA Baseball)
  • Maximum length: 36"
  • Maximum weight differential: -5

15 year olds and up

Includes 15U Travel, Legion, and 10th-12th Grade House Leagues

  • Maximum bat diameter: 2 5/8" (BBCOR only)
  • Maximum length: 36"
  • Maximum weight differential: -3

 

Allowed at all ages: Wood bats and BBCOR -3 bats
