Welcome to the Plymouth Wayzata Baseball Academy. Summer programs are now available. Below is a listing of the clinics and camps available along with a registration form if you chose to register by mail. You need not be a resident of Plymouth or Wayzata to participate.
PITCHING CAMP with Jim Benson
The Pitching Camp is designed to better prepare pitchers for League and Tournament play. Each pitcher will be charted to assess his arm condition and will workout at his own pace based on his recent and upcoming game appearances. Pitchers that have not thrown in the previous few days will likely pitch bullpen sessions and throw long toss. Pitchers that have thrown extensively during the previous few days will likely have lighter throwing sessions. Extensive attention will be given to improving each pitcher's throwing motion, accuracy and understanding of his own strengths and weaknesses. All pitchers will work on holding runners, pick off moves and fielding the position. In the event of rain, make up days are available.

SANDLOT LEAGUES with Jim Benson
The Sandlot Leagues are all about playing baseball and having fun. This is identical to the Winter Sandlot and Grapefruit Leagues at the CMS Dome. For each game we select captains. The captains pick their own teams, set the batting order and position the defense. We play a 90 minute game with some instruction along the way. In the event of rain, make up days are available.

INDIVIDUAL PITCHING with Jim Benson
Individual or group (teams) instruction with Jim Benson is available. You must call for an appointment (763-242-2922) Before school is out in mid June, sessions may be scheduled Monday through Friday in the after school hours 3-5:30pm. During the summer, sessions may be scheduled during the daytime hours depending upon availability (See above) Teams may schedule instruction during their assigned practice times and locations.
The individual sessions are designed around each player. Basic fundamental throwing mechanics are emphasized above all else. Age specific skills are introduced. For example, if a pitcher needs help learning how to hold baserunners we will focus on pitching from the stretch, mastering the slide step and learning how to execute pick off moves at 1st ,2nd, and 3rd base. Pitch selection and pitching strategy is discussed. Some pitchers will learn to throw curve balls for the first time. The intent is to better prepare each pitcher for this season.
